Pole Battle: Arena Open Day

I recently participated in my first ever Pole Battle. I’ve been training in Australia with Fontaine Bradbury at her new studio, Arena Pole, where she hosted an open day with free workshops, performances, and this pole battle.

There were six of us and we each had 40 seconds of freestyle to a surprise song. Here’s my 40-ish seconds – I thought I was done after about 30 and it took a few times before I realized Fontaine was telling me I had more time :S

Audience applause determined which 3 participants would have another 60 seconds to freestyle for the win. Luckily, I had some family and friends cheering for me! Here’s my 60 seconds:

I had such a thrill in this Pole Battle that I signed up for another at Arena Pole’s Student Performance Night!

I’ve been taking Fontaine‘s 8-week Advanced Choreo class in which we learn an entire routine, chock-full of awesome-fun/challenging tricks, combos, and floor moves. If you’re ever passing through Melbourne, I highly recommend you swing by Cheltenham and jump on one of these 41mm stainless steel poles at Arena Pole Studio. They spin really fast!
