I recently got to train with one of my all-time favourite pole dancers and she taught me one of my all-time favourite tricks… and it’s not even a pole trick – it’s more of a riff on my favourite yoga pose, The Locust, made extra wicked by Sergia Louise Anderson.
We actually ran out of time to learn it during her workshop at Arena Pole Studio, but Sergia was gracious enough to teach it to an eager (read: fanatical) few of us after class. My favourite part that day though was when Sergia spent her break chatting with me… actually, not just chatting… more like an all-out theatre-geek-fest! It harkened back to my theatre school days – and I spent a LOT of time in theatre school – we talked about character development, rehearsal techniques, movement exercises… and despite seven years of theatre school, I learned so much. But I knew I’d love her from the moment she started talking about contrasting victory and defeat at the start of her workshop.
Watch Sergia in this winning routine and you’ll love her too!
